Mowleni , S.M., presided over the usual weekly sitting of the Napier Police Court tliis morning, wlien tlie following cascs canie up for hearing: — NO LIGIITS. Harold Prenticc, having 110 lights 011 his cj'cle at night, was convicted and fined 10s, costs 10s. Similarly charged, Michael Edward Brandon was fined £2, costs 10s and Victor Gam111011 £1, costs 10s. A similar penalty was imposed iii tlio cnscs of James Petors and David Loader CREDIT BY FRAUD. Robcrt Martin Fennell, salesnian, pleaded guilty to a cliarge of obtaining credit by fraud. wlien iricurring a debt of eight sliillings and sixpence at Petane Detective-Sergeant Fitzgibbon stated tliat tlie accused got a liiglit's board at the Petane Hotel 011 tlie false representation that lie was a buyer for tlie Gear Meat Co., and that his name was Corrigan. They had had some difficulty in locating the accused, who w'as found finally in Gisborne. He left tlie Petane Hotel, without paying, after brenkfast and was not heaid of until found at Gisborne. Sentence of 48 hours' imprisonment was imposed. O11 a cliarge of a breacli of liis probation accused was remanded to appear at Wanganui. BY-LAW BREACII. Driving at a speed wliich migbt liave been dangerous and crossing aji intersection at too great a speed cost James Rcb'ert Gillespie (Mr II. B. Lusk) £2, costs 10s, and 10s, costs 10s respectively. BREACH OF PROHIBITION. Pleading guilty to a cliarge of procuring liquor while proliibited, Toatawa ilanuka (Mr L. A. Rogers1), was convicted and fined £3, costs 10s and George Crawford was convicted and fined £2, costs 10s. CHIMNEY ON FIRE. Charged with being the occupier of premises in which a chimney was permitted to catch 011 fire. Douglas Francis Ross was convicted and fined 5s, costs 15s. CASE DISMISSED. After hearing evidence, tlie Magistrate dismissed a cliarge of driving at a speed which miglit liave been dangerons to tlie public against Skeldon Branchley (Mr A. II. D. ATayne). Pleading guilty to driving at 15 miles per hour, defendant was convicted and fined £1, costs 10s.
