(Xotes by "Vidi.") AFTERNOON TEA PARTY Alrs R. Pinckncy was hoslcss at a most enjoyable Ica given at licr home in Robcrt strcet in lionour of Mrs E. Woodward, who has been a very stauneh and popular nicnihcr of the committee of the Hastings Ladies' Golf Club, but who has rcsigncd after niany years of active service. The coniinitteo oi the Ladies' Golf C'luh was present, including Mrs C. Baker, president. Mrs Davies, viceprcsident, Mrs G. Clark, vicc-presi-dent, Aliss Willis. honorary secretary, Miss Thompson, treasurer. Aliss Baird, games secretary, and Mesdames Symonds, F. McLeod, H. de Denne, the Misses P. Baird, Morrison ; also Miss A. Wellwood, a l'ormer memher of the committee. The liostess is cnptain of the golf club. Beautiful flowers in Autumn tints decorated the drawing-room and lounge. A most enjoyable tea was served. Alrs Pinckncy was assisted by lier daughters, Mrs R. Bygum, and Miss Nancv Pinckncy. Bcfore departing Airs C. Bakcr made a neat and cffective sjiecch, relcrring to the good work Alrs Woodward had acconiplishccl for tlie golf club and the great. rcgrct the members felt at losing Mrs Woodward from the committee, and, in ooiiclusion, 011 hehnlf of those present, she asked Mrs Woodward to acccnt a hook of Iravel as a small token of their lovo for her. Afrs E. AYoodward spoke a few words of thanks. PARK ' TENNIS DANCE. Tlie Oddfellows' Hall, effectively ciecoratccl in green and gold streamers, ihe colours of tlie Park Tcnnis Club, presented an altractive appearance 011 Ihe occasion of the presentation of trophies and a dance. The club's gold and green banner bi ighteued the end of the hall. Mr C'. Lassen, captain of the club, piesented the trophies to tlie winners as i'ollows : — Miss V. Stairmnnd, ladies' champion, was presented witli the silver rose bowl. Mr J. Vesty, men's cliampion, silver cup. Championsliip doubles, Messrs J. Vesty and Crichton. Ladies' championsliip doubles, Misses V. Stairmard and X'. Shcwan. Men's liandicap doubles, Messrs J. Vesty and Crichton. Ladies' liandicap doubles, the Misses Crumpton and H. Gloyn. Handicap singles, Mr J. A'cslv. Laclies' handicap singles, Miss D. Crumpton. Mr and Mrs J. Vesty, combined championsliip. Combined liandicap, Mr D. D. Parkhill and Miss Lancaster. After presenting tlie tropliies, Mr C. Lassen, in a short speech, referred to the club's indebteduess to Mrs R. Short, who ahvays allowed the committee to meet at her home and always entertained them at a choice supper afterwnrds, and as a small expression of their appreciation lie asked Mrs Short to accept from them a very useful aluminium kettle and a hot water jug. The following were the dance_ committee: — Mesdames R. Short, Miss V. Stairmand, Messrs C. Lassen, JL Clift, N. Russell, A. Arcliibald, C. Crichton, D. Parkhill, and A. McDonald. Among those present were the Misses Budd. E. Christie, Lankovsky, Woolf (2), Blackert, AVallace, J. Scott, Duff, De Frere, M. Burton, Goertz, Garnett, Stuhhs (2), G. Jones. Bridgeman (2), iMcDoiiald, Grigor. Diamond, McHugh, Pattersnn, Fanning, Coles, M. C'liff, White, Taylor, Harris, King (2), and others.
