STOP-BANK BURSTS. Much Country Inundated.
MASTERTON, This day. As expected. South Wairarapa districts around Wairarapa Lake, in the vicinity of Ruamahunga river are now fiooded. It is reported that three \ c-liains of an uncompleted stop-bank at' I Kaliutana burst at three o'clock this! j afternoon, and much low-lying country j is fiooded. Settlers. however, had i previous warning, and stoek was re-| moved. Bush Gully bridge, of 300 feet, was washed away on the Eastj Coast route from Martinborough, and | many other washouts and slips are reported in that district. ! Conditions at Tinui are now normal.
