INSPECTOR WATTS
COMMENDS HAVELOCK FIRE BRIGADE. When Captain T. J. "\Vatts, secretary of the Uiiited Fire Brigade Association of New Zealand, visited the Havelock Brigade last evening, a full attendance xvas on parade to meet him. Sup'ei'intendent Keith, of the Hastings Brigade, and txvo fireinen, aecompanied the visitor. Captain Watts expressed surprise at tlie' adequate equipment of the Havelock Brigade aud stated tliat brigades of prexoous establishment working under a fire boavd xvere not so modern as the Havelock men. The members xvent tlirough a modern test, tlie four-men motor ex'ent, to the evident satisfaction of the inspector, who- stated that the improvement since his last visit was reniarkable and reflected most cxreditably on the superintendent. Wlien the inspectioii xvas over tlie brigade entertained the visitors at tlie fire station.
