Auckland were aggressive from the start, opening tlie scoring after six niinutes. lnnes had a smart run and centred for Spencer to beat McVean. Two niinutes later Ivay streaked down the wing, crossing beautifully. lnnes again got possession, returning the ball to centre for Spencer to add a second goal. Wellington replied" stiongly, Campbell being seen in attack, and only very timely intervention by Joncs robbed Barton of success.
