Slater, W. -T. Lyon. G. W. B. VKC'ormack* T. Donovau, R. Baker and .J. Simmons Cr. Loach was welcomed to the council, afier the serious illness wliich lias kept him awav from several meetings. fn an effort to replace the swans which wero recently destroyed hy dogs in Covnwall Park. the couucil made inquiries from the Nelson and Masterton Borough Councils with the idea of purcliasing more, hut hoth _ councils advised that Ihoy had no wliite swans for sale this season. A letter was received from the Hastings Citizens1 Band asking if the councii would agree to tlie band ' playing some of its rcmaining subsidy con-c-erts on/week niglits as.it was found difficulb to work them ali in on Sundays in the short timo bei'ore the end of the financial year. The request was agreed to. The meeting conclucled with the expressiou of seasonahle greetings on all sides.
