AMUSEMENTS

HASTINGS PICTURE THEATRES. PROGRAMMES FOR TO-NIGHT. "They Had to. See Paris,'1 Will Rogers' first all-taking picture, is the attractiou at the Cosy de Luxe Theatre. The story was written by Homer Croy, the dialogue by Owen Davis, Senr., dean of American p'a.ywrights. Frank Borzage directed the production and Bernard Steele staged it. It is a Fox Movietone production. Ihe story deals with the sudden I'ise to wealth of an Oklahoma family when an oil well comes in a guslier, and their desire to see Paris individually and collectively. The trip is made in grand stvle, and once in the French metropolis Mrs Peters is determined to marry her daughter to a title. She plunges into society in spite of the protests of her less ambitious husband. The incidents that follow are as laughable as they are costly, and keep the family in a state of constant excitement. There will he the usual matinee to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. AT THE MUNIOIPAL. A thoroughly amusing comedy of domestic sunshine and shadows — mostly shadows — is "A Week-end Comedy," the British Internationai pioduction, which is at the Municipal Theatre to-niglit. The picture is interesting for another reason. Oue of the star performers is George Gee, who is so well known to Hawke's Bay audiences. The story concerns a stage star, Gaby Le Grand, who wants to get a divorce from her husbanll, her only reason. being that he is away on business. She accordingly consults Henri Monard, who promptly falls in love with her. Henri's wife quarrels with him, and he seeks consolation with Gaby, while Helene, his wife, seeks consolation with Max Ammon, a ehance acquaintance. The two women meet and become -friends, and soon after this Henri suggests a week-end afc Deauville, Gaby consenting readily. A similar suggest'ion- is made by Max 1o Helene. On their way there Max and Henry meet Le Grand (Gaby's huspand), who has found out that some man is trving to wreck his home. From then on the fun starts.
