OBITUARY

MRS E. B. HELPS. It was with very deep regret that residents of Hastings learned of the death of Mrs Agnes Ellen Helps, which occurred at her residence Townshend street, Hastings, on Wednesday night. Tlie late Mrs Helps was the wife of Mr E. B. Helps, auctioneer for the H.B. Farmer's co-operative, Ltd. She had been ill for some long time, but in her characteristic manner, she bore her troubles with great fortitude and cheerfulness, and her foattle against great odds earned for her a host of friends by whom she will be very sadlv missed. The late Mrs Helps was held in the liighest esteem by all with whom she came in contact, and her generous and lovable nature gained for her the highest affection of all. She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James Ryan, of Lyall, where the family was exceptionally well known and to mourn her death, she leaves her husband, two brothers Messrs J. A. Ryan, of Dannevirke, and D. M. Ryan, of "Wellington, and two sisters, Mrs C. Kilgour, Motueka and Mrs Mtilqueeney, Sydney, to whom the most sincere sympatliy will be extended. The funeral took place at the -tings Cemetery this afternoon, and the many beautiful wreaths and the large num'ner of mourners, bore a dlent testimony to the very high esteem in which the deceased lady was held.
