PRICES CONTINUE FIRM,

There was a better supply of stock at the Addington market to-day, and a good attondanco of buyers. Notwithstanding tho apparently ample market, the exceptional firmness that has characterised all classes of stock was again noticeable, and prices, particularly of fat sheep, showed a further advance. Fat cattle : An entry of 910 head included a few first-class lines and a proportion of inferior quality. Butchers competed keenly for prime animals, and in consequence had to pay at a rate of from 60s to
85s per IOOIbs for best hoof, though inferior was obtainable at from ‘2ss to 80s per JOOIIis, steers £7 10s to £lO 15s, heifers £0 18s to £l3 Os, cows £0 lO.s to £ls 10s. Fat slicop : There was a heavy yarding, arid the high prices lately ruling were more than maintained. Export buyers keenly competed with butchers for prime wethers, securing the bulk of tho entry at an advance of from Into Is fid per head on last week’s rates, Similar firmness was noticeable in regard to ewes. Nino magnificent Shropshire Down wethers, from the Acton Estate, realised
from 65s to 07s Cd. A small pci. of crossbreds from tiie sumo estate realised 42s each. Tho range of prices was : I’rirnc freezing wethers 20s to 28s, extra heavy 42s to 465, special 05s to 07s 6d, lighter 17s Id to 19a, merinos 15s lid to 21s 7d, lighter 10s 9d to 18s Bd, prime ewes 25s Sd to 275, lighter sorts 14s to 22s Od.
Fat lambs : 1020 woro pennod. Forty were this season’s lambs, and evoked keen competition from butchers. Thoso really prime brought 18s 9d to 275, others 12s 5d to 10s 9d. Other prices were : Tegs 18s 9d to 21s 6d, and fore xtra heavy 50s 6d, freezers 15s 6d to 17s 7d, and graziers’ lines 14s. Pigs: Smaii entry and a brisk demand. Baconors 47s 6d to 67s 6d, equal to 5d per lb; porkers 84s to 455, equal to 54d por lb. ■
