ALLEGED BETTING SHOPS
RAID BY THE POLICE. (Per Press Association 1 Dunedin, last night. Tho polico to day mado a raid on alleged betting shops, and mado a number of arrests, aQd Hecured about £IOO in money. The first place visited was that of Peter Grant, who was charged with keeping a common gaining house. W. Alexander was charged with assisting, and M. Delahunty for being on tho premises without lawful oxcusc. Books, papers, and about £4O in money were taken. Abe Moss’ premises were next raided, and H. Goodman, Jas. Todd, and H. Goodman, sen., arrested. The tobacconist shop of B. Curtis was then visited, All those arrested were bailed out, the principals being required to give security for £4OO, those assisting £25, and those found on the premises. £5.
