A MATTER OF FORM
Yesterday we published the following information supplied by our reporter, whom we believo to be strictly truthful:—“There appears to bo some misunderstanding as to whether or not Dr. Morrison’s resignation has boon accepted by the Hospital Trustees. The actual , position is that the Trustees have verbally agreed to accept the resignation on Tuesday, but no formal resolution to that effect has yet been passed.” Since then the accuracy of that paragraph has been questioned for a purpose, and the matter was at once referred to our reporter, who was present and reported the meeting of the Trustees, with the request that if lie had made a mistake ho should admit it. Hero is his reply, which speaks for itself: — To the Editor of tho Gisborne Times. Sir,—ln reference to a statement that Dr. Morrison’s resignation was Formally accepted by the Trustees, I have only to say that I have no recollection of hearing, the resolution formally put to the meeting, nor can another gentleman who was present tell me how it was put. All tho Trustees were in favor of the resolution, and apparently it was adopted without being formally put. I honestly believe that my report is a correct account of the proceedings.—l am, etc., G. T. EVANS. (Enquiring from a member of the Board as to what actually took place, we were informed that Mr Tuohy's motion was carried and not Mr Harding’s,, and he explains that, as no one opposed it, it was- adopted silently, so where are we? An enquiry into the matter cannot bo suggested at this stage when the Board has so much to enquire into and does its business so informally.—Ed. G.T.)
