Tho above tealns met yesterday atternoon on tho Domain, when a rather scrambling game resulted. Shortly after tho start Dustin made an excellent attempt at goal from a mark, just missing by -a few feet. Alhambra with a fairly weak team wero than holding their own, and Star had to force on soverul occasions to avert a score. Kaipara, who was prominent in tho Red’s back division, made a nice run, and transferred to Clark, who had a good chance to score, but lost the ball. Half-time was called with Alhambra pressing, and no score. Loose plr.y followed the resumption and several penalties were awarded, but tho resulting kicks wero fruitless. Valhuice saved bis side repeatedly, but the Beds were again aggressive, and from a scrambling rush Panka TureL got over. Ivokiri took tho kick lit goal, but failed. For the winners Kaipara, Graham, Paaka Turei, and Nicolas played well, while for Alhambra the best were Vallance, Dustin, Holdeu, and Somervell. ~ GISBORNE 14 v. CITY.O. From the commencement tho City men wero agressivo for a few moments, and a likely-looking rush was frustrated by Smith, who intercepted a pass and kicked down tho field. Gillies was prominent a moment later with a strbhg run, but Puflet relieved. In his own twonty-fivo Smith obtained possession and kicked down the field. following up hard, ho again got the ball, and ran down the line. On being collared ho passed to Morse, who ran over and scored. Scott failed with the kick. Gisborne 3, City nil. Newton was very, nearly in after the kick out, and just lost the ball on the line. Half-time was called with the scores unchanged. After a short interval, give->and-take play resulted, Gisborne if anything having the advantage. Thompson, who had been playing full-back, came up to five-eigliths, and put in some.good work. Gillies obtained in his opponents’ twenty-five, and running strongly, got right through. Tho attempt at goal again failed. Gisborne 6, City nil. On starting again the Royal Blues ran right over their opponents, and Scott, obtaining from the line-out, dived over tho line and grounded the ball. Newton took the kick, and struck the upright, the ball rebounding over the bar. Gisborne 11. Citv nil. '

Gisborne now had matters largely their own way and attacked strongly. AlcGonigal made a strong rim for City and had hard lines in not getting over. Returning to the attack, the Gisborne backs swarmed down on the line, .and Thompson made a fine jinky run from over half-way, dodging man after man, and eventually scored a brilliant try.
