TO BE ASSUMED ON DECEMBER 7 FORMAL NOTICE GIVEN. Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 26. Nothing has been done in the matter of the 'acquisition *of the Wellington and Manawatu Company’s railway line by the Government except that formal notice lias been given to tho Company that on December 7th the State will exercise its power to tako over the line. It is rumored that the Company will adopt a strictly negative attitude. There is a possibility that legislation will be brought forward during the coming session by which the transfer will take place on December 7th, leaving the question c.f compensation to be settled afterwards.
