THE AVON SEAT. [Preib Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 29.

Mr. John Jamieson, the Opposition candidate for the Avon seat, addressed a largely attended meeting of electors at North Linwood to-night. He favored tho elective executive, reform of tho Legislative Council, the leasehold with option of freehold at a. fair and reasonable re-valuation, workers’ homes near the cities, greater efficiency in the defence force and the encouragement of volunteering, superannuation for teachers on the same lines as the civil .service, and reduction of borrowing. Ho received an attentive hearing, and at the close of his address was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
