HOPE FOR LOCH l OMOND ABANDONED.
[Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Sept. 29. Tlio steamer W ana lea is to sail this afternoon for Auckland Islands to search for the missing barque Lqcli Lomond. All hope of the vessel being found is practicaly abandoned, nautical authorities considering that she must have foundered during tho recent easterly gales, when several boats were wrecked on tho Australian coast. Company’s Anna has returned after a three days’ unsuccessful search for the disabled steamer Whangnpo. The Tol'ua has arrived from Auckland. FURTHER SEARCH AUTHORISED [Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Sept. 29. The Amra’s search for the WJiangape "having proved unsuccessful, arrangements have now been made for the Tofua to search to the westward of the Kadaru Islands. The Manuka, en route from Suva to Sydney, wil lkcep a look-out, and tho Koromiko, which is due at Suva on Thursday morning, will make a special search, remaining out till October Bth if necessary, but it confidently expected that the Wliangape will be picked up by that time.
