Farmers' and owners of stock of all kinds aro reminded that the entries for tho Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s annual spring show, to be held oil Tuesday amt Wednesday, October 27th and 28th, close with tlie secretary (Mr. 11. M. Porter) to-morrow evening; and tho attention of 'intending exhibitors is directed to the following sections : . HORSES. ; There are thirteen classes for draughts, exclusive of tho championships, and a challenge cup valued at £lO 10s, the gift of Mr. F. B. Barker, will ho presented to tho exhibitor winning tlie most points in the draught liorse classes during tho shows of 1006, 1007, and 1908. There are four classes for thoroughbreds, and a prize of £3 3s, the gilt of Mr. A. Hegnrty, will be awarded to tlie champion entire. Seven classes aro allotted to light horses, and twentynino classes to twiddle and harness liorse, exclusive of tho jumping and trotting competitions. CATTLE.
Shorthorns are catered for by being allotted fourteen classes, and championships for cow or heifer and hull. A challenge cup, valued at £lO 10s, the gift of tlie president; (Mr. T. Holden), will bo presented- to tho exhibitor gaining most points in the. Shorthorn section lim tho shows o-t 1906, 1907, and 1908. There are seven classes for Polled Angus and live for Ilorefords. A challenge cup, valued at £lO 10s, Die gift of tho Hon. Capt. Tucker, and other gentlomon, will bo presented to the exhibitor gaining the most points in classes-from 81 to 98, inclusive, which include the classes allotted, to Ayrsliii'es, Alder news, Jerseys, liolstcins, and dairy cattle of any breed. SHEEP. Groat encoimigomoii't has boon given to pastoral-ists to exhibit sheep. There are nine classes for Lincolns, as well as a challenge cup, valued at £lO 10s, the gi-ft of Messrs Levin and Co.-, Wellington, for from- class 104 in Lincolns to class 130 in -Border Leicester:-;, and including ail_ clisses in Romneys and English Loicesters. There are also prizes for champion Lincoln owe mid ram, ciiampion Romney ewe and ram, and Messrs Quibell Brothers, through Messrs Dalgety and Co., offer a sterling' silver challenge cnip, valued at 20 cruincas, to ho won twice in succession, or three times at intervals, to tlie exhibitor scoring the most points in Lincoln, Romney, Leicester, Shropshire, -and Southdown sections at this vear’s show and in future shows. Then there is a challenge cup, valued at £lO 10s, the gift of Messrs Barker Brothers, for fat sheep m classes 143 to 151, inclusive. There is a.so a challenge cup for fat lambs, and special classes for pet lamb and pet sllCei " PIGS.
Twelve classes have been allotted to tlio pig section, and these cover Berkshire, Tamwortli, Yorkshire, and open classes. 1 POULTRY.
The poultry section -includes five classes for geese, ducks, and tui keys, twentr-eight classes for fowls, and nine classes for pigeons; as well as special classes for utility poult-iy. PRODUCE.
Ladies will he interested in the twenty-three classes hi the produce section. These include classes tor home-made scones, bread, jams, jellies. pickles, and bottled fruits, and a special class for best collection or locally-grown fruit. COMPETITIONS.
Tho competitions include a leaping match -for ladies, a wire jump, leaping match for ponies (14 hands or under), handicap trots in saddle and harness, -driving, riding, and guessing events. Space will also bo -allotted for tho exhibition of saddlery, veinclesj implements, and machinery-
