CHALLENGE CUPS.

The following are f lio results of the competition for the various challenge cups at the show just concluded: —-

SHEEP

Messrs Quibell Bros.’ silver cup, value 20 guineas, for most points in stud sheep, was won by Mr. D. -Kirkpatrick, who scored so heavily in Dincoins, with a total of 45 points, Mr. E. (Short, the Romney exhibitor, being second with- 34 points, and Mr. W. Jobson third with 23 points. Mr. Kirkpatrick was also the winner of the cup list year, with 27 points, and thus becomes absolute possessor of the cup. The challenge cup, value 6 guineas, to be won, outright by the exhibitor winning most points with registered Southdown sheen in the years 1908-9-10 was won by Mr. C. Matthews, with 17 points, Messrs Williams Bros, being runners-up with 7 points. Messrs Levin and Co.’s cop, .value 10 guineas, for the most points in longwool sheep, was won by Mr. D. Kirkpatrick, with 45 points. The Patutahi breeder this becomes the absolute possessor of this cup, for he also won it last year with 27 points. •Mr. E. Short,, with 34 points, was liis nearest opponent, Mr. J. ißrunton being third with 10- points, and Mr. J. O. Field fourth with 13 points.

Messrs Barker Bros.’ cup, value 10 guineas, for fat sheep, was won by Messrs Holden Bros., who scored 33 points, Messrs Barker Bros, themselves occupying second place*"with 16 points. A cup was offered for competition for fat lambs, and can be won outright by the exhibitor scoring most jDoints- in these classes in 1908, 1909, and 1910. One class—five fat lambs suitable for the London market, to be judged when dressed for freezing —lias yet to be adjudicated upon, but- Mr. W. Jobson has a substantial lead of 20 points against Mr. W. T. Bruce’s 3 points, so in any case he will prove the 1908 winner. CATTLE. The President’s 10-guinea cup for Shorthorn cattle ;(190v-S-9) has been won outright by Mr. W. Witters, he having scored the most points for the three years. His- respective points were 23, 29, and 22, a total of 74. Mr. J. Clark was runner-up in -1906 and 1907 with the respective points of 21 and 14, but this year’s nrunnerup was Mr. G. Witters, with S points, Mr. C. Gray being next- with 7 points. The dairy cattle cup, value 10 guineas, for the years 1906-7-S, wild doubtless fall to Mr. -G. It. Moore. This year ho scored 13 points, and tiiis with last two years’ total of 20 points makes his aggregate 33 points. Mr. A. Lange, up to last year, had scored 14 points, which, with this year’s results, makes his total 30 points. HORSES.

The 10-guinea cup presented by the Vice-President becomes the absolute property of Mr. H. G. Tucker, he having scored the most points for the years 1906, 1907, and 1908. Air. C. Matthews, of Patutahi, was second.
