The butter market is duS. For Danish 127 sto 128 sis asked. There is less demand for colonial owing to ‘retailers raising the pr'ice to Is-Id, causing consumers to buy shilling mixtures. Quotations are nominally unchanged, though there is an easier tendency.
The Bradford wool market is unchanged. There is a better tone, but little actual business.

The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, November sth, states:
The mutton market' is weak and dull on account of heavy arrivals from tho Continent. New Zovai’u stocks are firmly held hi a few hands, and quoted: 3«d for Canterbury brands; 3jd for North Island. River Plate mutton is quoted at 3',d.
The lamb market- is quiet. Prices are slightly weaker, with iittle do mruul'. Stocks of New Zealand kmb on hand are light, and arc quoted at sgd for Canterbury and 5-fd for other than Canterbury; River‘"Plato lamb is quoted at 4 (d. Tho beef market is steady, with moderate inquiry. H indquarters are quoted at- 3Jd and forequarters at--3.] cl. Supplies of River Plate beef arc heavy.
The butter market is "firm for the best quality owing to short supply. New Zealand butter is quoted at 1265, Australian at 1235, Argentine at 1245, and Danish at 1295.
The cheese "market is quiet, but steady. The demand is improving, bu-fc prices are -unchanged. The hemp market is very uncertain, and business is duE. The demand is chiefly for prompt delivery. The following are the current quotations: Good fair grade, on spot, £26; fair grade, on spot, £23 10s; fair current Manila, on spot, £24. November to December shipments are quoted as follows: Good Lair grade £25 10s, fur grade £23, fair current Manila £24. Last week’s output from Manila amounted to 27,000 bales. There is a better demand for cocksfoot seed at reduced prices. Bright, clean 171 b seed is quoted at 78s per cwt.
The wool market is firmer. There is a general and active demand. Bradford tops are quoted: 3G’s, low crossbreds, 9£d; 40’s, low crossbreds, lOpd; 44’s, medium crossbreds, 11 id; 50’s, halfbreds, Is 3.1 d ; 56’s, quarterbreds, Is spd; 60’s, merinos Is l(Hd. Hops. —There is an increasing demand for better grades,, and holders are firm. Curent quotations are : 80s per cwt. New /Zealand beans.—-The market is firm, but the demand i.s only moderate at 32s 6d per 5041 b, f.a.q. Old crop partridge peas.—The market' is firm, with a hardening tendency, at 42s 6cl per 5041 b. The grain market is quiet, hut firm. No supply of New Zealand on hand. * The following shipments arrived from the River Plato during the month of October: London: Mutton 74,696 carcases, lamb 7523 carcases; 'Liverpool: 191,011 carcases mutton, 11,482 carcases lamb ; Hull: 9921 carcases mutton, lamb nil; Newcastle: 11,854 carcases mutton, lamb nil ; Southampton : 3806 carcases mutton, ‘1483 carcases lamb; Plymouth: 1539 carcases mutton, lamb nil; Cardiff: 3386 carcases mutton," 49 carcases lamb. London and Sou thumps ton : 7024 cwt butter.
