After a dull and showery morning, the weather - turned out beautifully fine for the third day of the New Zealand Cup meeting. The attendance was again good, and the racing generally interesting. As on the previous days, the times registered were very fast, and Signor put up ail Australasian record, when lie won the Canterbury Cup in 3min 53 2-osec; while 80-brikoff’s mile in lmin 39 4-5 sec. was a record for Riccarton, and Artillerie’s 2min 37 4-ssec a record for the Oaks. Tike totalisator investments amounted to £19,920, against £20,216 last year. The bookmakers’ fees amounted to £695. The folio vie g are the results of the racing : Suburban Hurdles Handicap, of 200 sovs., once round .and a distance. — Stronghold, 10.5, 1; Snip, 11.0, 2; Leonardo, 10.7, 3. MELBOURNE, Nov. 11
At a sale of racehorses Mr. Quinn secured Waipuna for 300 guineas, and Mr. Starving Waiila for 2SO guineas. Soultline was passed in at 850 guineas, but was subsequently sold privately to Mr Mackay for 1000 guineas'.
