THE CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.
[Press Association.]
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 14. The attendance at the A. and P. Show yesterday was unusually large, being 35.000 which beat i;lie big attendance on people’s day in the Exhibition year. The light horses, winch were judged yesterday, were a fine lot, and the jumping in the afternoon was exceptionally good. There were several minor spills, but nothing serious.
The attendance at the Show yesterday (35.000) is a figure that has never been reached before. The gate money was- also a record. -Notwithstanding /-~ the tremendous number of people in town, the cases of drunkenness were very few, the police say a minimum for people’s day. and no cases of a robbery or pocket-picking were reported. All places of entertainment were crowded last night. All the hotels were full, the passages being utilised for shakedowns, but the town was never so orderly nor the crowds so well behaved.
