A DESPERATE PRISONER.
SAVAGE ASSAULT OX A GAOLER

' WELLINGTON, Nov. 21
Yeserday afternoon a prisoner named Norman, at Terrace Gaol, employed at cabinet-making, suddenly attacked Mr. Armstrong, governor of the gaol, with a chisel, inflicting serious injuries on the neck, -and just massing the jugular vein. Norman tiien made -a dash for liberty, but was recaptured. He will be charged at the Court on Monday He is at present serving a sentence for an indecent assault on a boy. Mr. Armstrong this afternoon is in a low condition.
