IN COLLISION.

SMUOUSLY DAMAGED

United Press Association. Copyright LONDON, Nov. 27. The steamer Tongariro collided with the steamer Drumlanrig off Dover. After the collision the Tongariro anchored at Dover. The vessel -is* badly damaged in the. forward part/ Her forepeak is full of water, and it is feared that, the officers will be compelled to beach the steamer to prevent her sinking.

The Drumlanrig was also badly damaged, and it was found necessary to beach her-;

The Tongariro, after temporary repairs, returns to London to discharge.

[Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 28. The New Zealand Shipping Company were to-day in receipt of the following cable from their’ Loudon office: “The Tongariro is at Dover, She has been in collision with the steamer Drumlanrig. The Tongariro is seriously damaged, and must return to London. ■ Nobody is injured: The Tongariro left London on Thursday for Plymouth, and was to have left Plymouth to-day for Wellington.”
