CHURCH CONCERT.
ENTERTAINMENT AT THE BAP-
TiiST TABERNACLE
Thc concert in aid of the Baptist Church choir and; orchestra fund, which had .been postponed for a week owing to had weather, was -held in. the Tabernacle last night. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, there was a very good attendance, /and the various itemswere heartily (applauded by the audience. The programme consisted of both vocal /and instrumental items. The orchestra gave two selections, and Mr. Barraolough a clarionet solo. Mr. and Mrs. Brownlee and Mr. R. N.. McKay played an instrumental trio for the ’cello, organ, and violin, and the last-named /gentleman was encored for his violin solo “Carnival de Venice,” giving as his second item “Robin Adair.” The combined item “Lead Kindly Light”, by the choir and orchestra wHs. very well received, and Master Rhinesmith received a recall for his violin solo. Songs were given by 'Misses Richards and Thompson, and -Messrs Brownlee and Heathcote, Miss Richards and Mr. Brownlee being compelled to accede to the demands of the audience for an encore. Mrs. 'Clarkson recited Patterson’s well-known poem “Lost, and Sir. -Fairlie also contributed a recitation*. The entertainment altogether was a great success, and it is anticipated that the choir fund will benefit materially thereby.
