GISBORNE CLUB.

A goodly number of members of the Gisborne Bowling Club were at the club’s ground on Saturday, when play was carried, on in brilliant weather and on a green in capital order. Play was confined to impromptu matches, of which the following Avere the principal : Lewis, Pavitt, Dodd, and Witty (skip) 26 beat Boulton, Wilson, Hookey and Bright (skip) 14. Kyme, O'Meara, Corson, and Simson (skip) 20, beat Wootton, Collins, Mclntosh, and Ponsford (skip) 13.

TURANGANUI CLUB. The excellent AA r eather of Saturday enticed the members of the Turanganui Club to their green, a strong muster resulting. A number of practice games Avere played, a couple of singles for the Bennett Cup, and a challenge match betAveen the reps, and another four. The folloAving are the details: Challenge Match. Williams, SaAvyer, Gaudin, and J. J. Martin (reps.) 20 beat. Hird, Ratcliffe, Nasmith, jnr and Stormont (challengers) 14. The challengers assumed the lead, and on the 11th head Avere 10 to 9. The 16th head, however, smv the position altered, Martin’s team shoAving 13 to 12. The reps, thereafter kept the lead, Avinning by six points. Bennett Cup. Hird (19) beat Sawyer (14). Hird got the lead, and on the Bth head Avas 7to 5. The 18th head srav Hird still ahead, with one point—l4—l3. Hird getting in a four on the 19th head practically put the issue beyond doubt, and he Avon on the remaining heads by five points.

Hay (19) beat Somervell (14). Hay scored first, being 6 to 2 on the sth head. Someiwell dreAv level on the 11th head—9 all, and on the 13th head—ll all. From this point Hay dreAv OAvay, ultimately winning by five points.

The entries for this competition closed on Saturday, the entrants being: Nasmith, jnr., Lewis, Ratcliffe, Stormont, Douglas, Colley, Nasmith senr, J. J. Martin, Bennett, Sawyer, Hird, Neill, Hallam Williams, Hay, Gaudin, Somervell, and Jeune.
