DUNEDIN, Dec. 31. The Otago golf tournament was continued to-day in inclement weather. Tho greens were kept sodden by occasion.il showers. The second bogey handicap played in the morning was Avon by J. A. Ciow (Christchurch), 3 handicap and 3 up; runner up, A. J. Forbes (Ot.igo), 9 handicap and 1 up. 13. J. Smith (scr.), 1 doAvn; H. D. Stronacli (3 hdp.), 1 down. * The second round of the amateur championship of Otago Avas played in the afternoon, Hamilton Smith lead- j ing Avitli S2, followed by -J. A. Goav (Christchuroh) 86; H. D. Stronacli : (Otago) 87; IT. A. Salmond (Otago)87; A. F. 11 oberts (Otago) 88; 11. Macneill (Sydney) S 9; T. Brydone (Otago) 92. Others scores Avcre fait, to moderate. (Basil Smith fell off considerably, talcinig 96 to go round in. Concurrently Avith this event the medal handicap AA-as played, in Avhicli G. A. Goav, F. W. Mac Lean and H. E. The Otago Golf Club’s 'annual New Year tournament avas continued today in cold windy weather. The bogey fours Avas Avon by B. C. Itutherford and P. Trolove (Christchurch), with 2 handicap and 1 up,< T. Brydone and A. P. Forbes 8 handicap (Otago) all square; G. M. MacLean and F. AV. Mac Lean (Otago) 10 handicap, all _ square; H. C. Smith and B. J. Smith, scr, 1 down; J. A. Comek and C. Turnbull (Otago), 6 handicap, 2 doAvn: AY. D. McCarthy and A. Laing (St. Clair), 11 handicap, 2 down; A. F. Roberts and IT. A. Salmon (Otago, 1 handicap 3 doAvn and 1 to play; A. Doav and-Bonn in g ; ton, 4 handicap, 3 down ; G. H. MacEwan (Otago) and It. AV. Robertson (New Plymouth), 4 handicap, 3 down ; AV. It. C. Smith went round in 81, and leads with 246 ; B. J. Smith scored 84, and comes next with 263; It. J. Smith made. Bß, and is third with 279: IT. A. Salmon's score was 89. and be i.s close on the heels of It. J. Smith with 280; and G. A. Goav (Christchurch). whoso score Avas 97, comes next Avith 282. Play in‘this event was, considering tho weather conditions, excellent.
The best scores for the medal handicap were : H. O'. Smith 82 —4scr—-81; H. W. Mac Loan, 97 F. A. Mac Lean, 97—14—83; B. J. Smith 84. The tie for the Thursday medal handicap was played off, and won by F. W. Mac Lean.
