ANNUAL CONVENTION
[Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 4. The fifth annual convention of the Ncav Zealand Dental Association was opened to-day at the Parliament Buildings'. Mr Arthur Hoby, L.D.-S., President of the Association, occupied the chair. Dr Sykes, a representative from San Francisco, representing the'dental department of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Avas also present. An item of public interest in the annual report and .balance-sheet, which Avere adopted, was the outline of a scheme draivn up by Messrs S. Keane, Dixon and. Carter, of Auckland, for elementary lectures, to be handed over to the Education Department, for .introduction in. the schools of the*' Dominion. Publication of the details is with-held, pending the result of the full discussion by the conference. The importance of the question Avas recognised by the delegates present as affecting national development. It Avas acknoAvledged that the dental profession was the proper-source of proposals for reforms in the direction of ensuring the proper treatment of, childrens teeth. The opinion Avas-' expressed that ia similar scheme m us©. m; the German schools, and forming an uniiortant item in the curriculum, justified steps ffoing taken in New Zcaland to.combat the evils.
