SYDNEY, Feb. 12
In the inquest on the. naval disaster tho coroner found that tho collision between the Dunmore and the Encounter’s pinnace was caused by the negligence and careless navigation of Bryant, coxswain of tho pinnace, who was committed lot - trial on a charge of manslaughter. The coroner said that it appeared to him that if the towline between the launch and the pinnace had been fastened so as to be quickly cut off in case of emergency, there would have been no loss of life. The captain of the Dunmore followed the regulations applicable to a ease of the kind, and must bo held to be acquitted of criminal negligence, but the coroner was of opinion that he and his crew did not sufficiently exert themselves to save life. He was also of opinion that Bryant was to some extent the victim of circumstances.
