WOODVILLE RACES. ("Press Association.] WOODVILLE, Fob. . 18. Delightful Aveather was experienced for the concluding day of the Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. The attendance was very satisfactory, but not quite so largo as on the previous day. The sum of £'6280 Avas passed through the tota lisa tor, Avhich made £13,710 for the meeting. The amount named is £3351 less than at the corresponding meeting last year. Six bookmakers did business to-day, and the fees for the tAvo days amounted to £3OO. The racing was again very interesting and exciting. There were largo fields in all tbe events, except the Hurdles, for Avhich only, three started. Several of the finishes Averc close. The following were the results :
Settlers’ .Hack Handicap, of 70-ovs, 6 furlongs.—-Kelso 1, Miss Vera. 2, Awlv-1 3. Won from start to finish by a length. Scratched: Genuine, Taumano, and Kinnntwian. Time, lmin 15 4-ssec. Second Hack Hurdles, of SOsovs, 11 miles. —Wluitakura I, Reumac 2, RosegroAm 3. The only starters. Wliatakura led all the way, and won in the easiest manner by six lengths Time. 2min 55sec. Ballance Hack' Welter Handicap, o f 75soA r s, 7 furlongs. —Aherbrotlioek 1, Mildura 2, Notorious 3. Scratched: Xa-vier and Liquid Air. Aherhortlioek took charge after the start, led all the ivay, and Avon easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 30sec. Autumn Handicap, of 150sovs, 1 mile and a distance.—Sandstrcam 1. Merric Rose 2 r Moloch 3. Also started : Vasa, Waitapu, Seaton Dale, Loiret, Berengaria, Castiglione. Castiglione led for most of the distance. Before reaching the straight Sandstream drew away from the field and was not afterwards headed, winning easily by three lengths. Time, lmin 55 3-osoc. Kumeroa Hack Handicap, of 75 sovs, 5 furlongs.—Genuine 1, Swallow 2, Hydraulic 3. Scratched : Waioriki, Lucretius, and Contour. This race was a hit of a surprise. Genuine won by a short head. Time, lmin 2 l-s«ec. Shorts Handicap, of lOOsovs, 5 furlongs.— jVi 1, Karoroa 2, Lochicla 3. Also started: Toa Tuhi, Golden Gate, and Lothair. Vi won by half-a-longth in the excellent time of lmin lsec. Flack Scurry Handicap, of 65sovs.— Waimarimari 1, Ki mined an 2, Valentino 3. Boloma, Harper, New Year, and iLeolanter Avere scratched. A very exciting race, Avon by a neck. Time, lmin 2 2-ssec. .. .. Maharahara Handicap—Silken Rem 1, Merrie Zealand 2, Rangibaeta 3. Won comfortably by a length. Time, lmin 44 l-ssec.
