CRICKET ASSOCIATION

The ususal weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held it the British Empire Hotel last evening. Air.* AV. F. Cederwall presided.

Permission was granted the Aletholist and Presbyterian Bible Class teams' to use the chip wicket at Aricoria Domain on Saturday afternoon next-.

Application was made by the Gisborne Ladies’ Hockey Club for the use d Ab'etoria, Domain for practice on three evenings in the week. It was decided to reply regretting that the Association was unable to permit the playing of hockey on the ground while the cricket season was on.

Complaint was made that hockey players played over the turf wicket at Victoria Domain.

It was decided to send a letter to the Hockey Association asking them to request their players to refrain from playing on Victoria Domain until the end of the cricket season, and to instruct the groundsman to stop all hockey playing on the ground. It was also decided, to ask the Poverty" Bay Rugby Union to support the Asssociation in the matter.

Air. A. AI. Howden wrote stating that the Auckland team he wa6 bringing to Gisborne would arrive on April 7th. . 1

It was decided to apply to tho Poverty Bay Rugby Union for an extension of the lease of AUctoria Dojmain for a fortnight in order that the matches against the Auckland team might be got off. The Selection Committee. Alessrs Hallamore, J. H. AA 7 ack. and H. E. Alaude, were empowered to draw up a list of matches for the Auckland team’s visit, and to arrange whatever trial games they mav consider necessarv.

A letter was received from the n, ’.L)d Club appealing -against the decision to award the match which should have been played on February 28th to the Wanderers Club. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to adjourn consideration of the letter until Thursday evening 18th inst-
