CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION. The championship matches were contisued on Saturday afternoon, in brilliant weather. United journeyed out to Taruheru, and AVanderers tried conclusions with Te Rau at the AHctoiia Domain. UNITED v. TARUHERU. Neither of these teams were at full strength, United having only nine men. The United skipper Avon the toss, and decided to bat, the last wicket falling at 133. Hallamore (51), Barker (44), and AA’byte (17) batted well for their respective scores. On Taruheru going in to bat wickets fell rapidly, and the whole side was dismissed for 67 runs. Dillon (14) and Pilcher (11) were the principal contributors. This match resulted in a win for St. Andrew’s Class by six wickets, tlie ecorino- on both sides being small. For their first innings the Methodists’ score amounted to 47 (Dawson 14 and Hutton 11 being tho principal scorers. St. Andrew’s followed with a score of 71; Brown 22 and Moore 12 being the chief contributors. The Methodists went in again to try and improve their position, but did little hotter, being dismissed for 51, Edwards and Aitken being the highest scorers, with 17 and 13 respectively. St. Andrew’s, with 27 to get, went in, and by 6 o’clock had scored 32, Burnside (13 not out) being the only scorer to reach double figures. AUCKLAND MATCHES. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 13. The Auckland Cricket Association’s district championship matches were resumed to-day, the tenth round being commenced in dull weather, and on damp wickets. In the senior, grade, Eden A disposed of City for 54 (Heaney 19). G. Mills took five wickets for 26. Eden A made 121 for the less of two wickets (Brown 48. Cummings 48 not out). Parnell’s first innings against Ponsonby realised' 122 (Sale 4, Fairborn 21 not out). McCoy took four wickets for 22. Ponsonby made 21 for 6 wickets, Hutchings taking four wickets for 7 runs. University against Grafton made 144 (Robinson 54, Fawcett 32. Ellis 22). Mason took five wickets for 67, and Hay 4 for 39. Grafton made 28 for the- loss of one wicket. North Shore batted the whole afternoon against Eden Colts, and made 235 (Hadden 42, Philson 60, Dacre 74, and AVoodward 21 not out). CHRISTCHURCH MATCHES. (Frees Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 13. In the match St. Albans against Sydenham, tlio last-named won after a fairly even game: Sydenham 233 (Patrick 50, McLelland 40); St. Albans 175. Linivood 322 (Lawrence 84, A. E. Ridley 50, A. ,E. Young 47, A. AV. Thomas 46) beat East Christchurch- 180 (A. Costello 41). Lin wood are 19 points in. and cannot bo beaten for tho championship, as there is only one more match to be played.
