' GISBORNE CLUB
Tlie green at the Gisborne Club was in good order on Saturday afternoon, and the members who assembled thereon enjoyed some very interesting games. The following were the results of the. most noteworthy : Boulton, Wilson, T. Clarkson, Hookey (skip) 37, heat Wootton, Paltridge, Pavitt, Witty (skip) 11. H. Lewis, ICyme, Pettie, feimson (skip) 26, beat Redstone, O’Meara, Corson, Hazard (skip) 13.—This game derived unusual interest from the factthat Mr. Hazard, of Hastings, skipped a rink. He had decidedly bad luck, and the score was not by any means an indication of the quality of the play. TURANGANUI CLUB. The fine weather of Saturday afternoon attracted a number of players to the Turanganui Club’s green, where a number of games were played. A match was also played. The result Handicap Singles.—J. P. Williams (5) 22, beat T. McConnell (7) 18—This match commenced the first round of the . competition. The players were level on the 3rd head, hut on the 6tli head, McConnell was Bto 4. Williams, however, drew up level on the lltli head 1.2 all, and playing well obtained the lead, which he held to the finish, tlie final head showing Williams 22, McConnell 16. .In connection witli this competition, Mr. J. M. Lennon has presented a trophy for a second prize. inter-club Match.—The return match between the local clubs takes place on Thursday next, on the Turanganui green, and a good contest is expected.
