THE LONDON,WOOL SALES.. United Press Association —Copyright. LONDON. March 26. The wool sales have closed firm at top prices. brought 9gd and Mokopeka 13|d. "" WELLINGTON, March 27. A cable from the High Commissioner, daetd, London, March 26th, states:— The sales closed firm, with excellent competition for all descriptions. The advance was fully maintained. A very small quantity was held over. -Business in the manufacturing districts is improving, and tho prospects are favorable. Estimated, values are : Superior merino Is to Is 2d. medium merino lOd to Is, inferior merino 7d to 91 d; fine crossbreds, all grades. Is to Ts 3d, medium crossbreds, all grades, to coarse crossbreds, all grades, 6|d to 9-Jd. PRODUCE MARKERS. Messrs F. S, Malcolm and Co., auctioneers, report the following prices realised at their produce sales oil Saturday:—Cockerels lOd to Is Id, fowls. Is 8d to 2s, roosters Is lOd to 2s, ducks Is 6d to 2s, butter lOd, eggs 2s 2d to 2s 3d, pickled eggs Is 6d, onions Id lb, picklers lid lb, potatoes 6s cwt, apples 2s to 8s case, pears 3s to 6s 8d case, tomatoes lid to 2d lb, melons 4s to 9s doz, quinces unsaleable, cucumbers Is doz, kumeras T-Jd lb, chaff 3s 6d bag, peaches lid to 2jd lb, small vegetables at usual prices. HORSE SALES. Messrs Williams and Kettle only had a small number of liofses on offer at their weekly sale on Saturday. The yarding totalled about 19, mostly hacks,, which sold from £3 15s to £l2, The harness horses were all passed in. Hie racehorse To Kaiiuii was sold for 60 guineas, and Te. Uku was passed in.
