Offers for April delivery wheat of 4s B|d meet with no response.. Flour has advanced 10s, and is now £lO 15s per ton. ! THE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLEGRAM. (Press Association,) WELLINGTON, March 29. A. cable from the High Commisioner dated March 27, states: —The mutton market remains depressed, and has declined further. Canterbury mutton, which is in small supply, is quoted at 3jd; North Island, in large supply, is at 2|d. River Plate mutton is m large supply, and is being strongly pushed for sale at 2ld. The supply exceeds the demand, and the stock is accumulating at present in store. Tlie lamb market is weak and inactive. There is very little prospect of improvement for some time. The stocks on hand are high, and prices have declined. Current quotations are: Canterbury lamb 43d, other than Canterbury Australian 3|d, River Plate The beef market is weak, owing to the poor demand. Supplies of River Plate are very heavy. New Zealand hindquarters are quoted at 3d, forequarters 2£d. The butter market is rather unsettled, buyers holding backy expecting prices to go lower. The market is lifeless. Choicest New Zealand butter is quoted at 103 s, Australian 101, Argentine 102 s, Danish 115 s, Siberian 101 s. The cheese, market is firm, and there is more demand, especially for colored makes, which are quoted at 645; white makes are quoted at 61s. . The. hemp market is very depressed on account* of large shipments from Manila. Current quotations are: Good, fair grade, on spot, £23; fair grade, on spot, £2l; fair current Manna, on spot, £23; April t 6 June shipments, good fair grade, £22 10s;-fair grade £2O 10s, fair currentManila £2O Is. Last week’s Manila output amounted to 25,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet. There are light stocks on hand. Bright, clean 171 b seed is quoted at SOs. The hop market is quiet, with small business dong. New Zealand long-berried wheat on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4S6'.b«, is at 39s 6d; New Zealand short berried do, 37s 6d. Prices are nominal. The market is firmer for New Zealand short sparrowbill oats, ex granary, per quarter of 3841b5, 245; Danish oats, per quarter of 3201b5, 17s. There is a good demand for all descriptions.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, under yesterday’s date: Wool. —As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, higher for. fine greasy crossbred, about 5 per cent, higher for lambs, greasy merino super, and coarse greasy crossbred; 5 per cent, to 7$ per cent, higher for slipe crossbred and scoured crossbred; and about 7-3 to 10 per cent, higher for scoured merino and greasy merino medium. The outlook is encouraging. Average current London value of under-noted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good merino 13d, medium do. lid, inferior do. 93-d ; fine crossbred 133 d, medium do 103 d, coarse, do (40’s) Bd, coarse do (36’s) 73-d. Wool sold, 183,000 bales. For Continent 69,000 bales. Sales closed strong. Taken for America 18,000 bales, 13.000 bales held over. Frozen meat. —Mutton and lamb 3d, beef id lower. Market depressed, and has, downward tendency.
