TRIAL MATCH. There was fine weather and a good muster of players at the trial match held under the auspices of the Poverty Bay 'Cricket Association at, .'Victoria Domain on Saturday .afternoon. Sides were chosen by H. Babbs and \\. Edison. The former’s team batted first, and ran up. the fail” total of 137. Tho'ugh no big'scores were made, the imaioritv of tlio batsmen made runs and took a’ lot of getting .out. tured two for 23 off nine overs. Adamson, Ilarker, and Gibson also bowled, but did net secure a jvieket. Gibson’s side went to the wickets at twenty minutes to five, when the light was beginning to fade. Gibson and McConnell gave the side a- good start by putting on 40 for the first wickot, both men scoring freely off tho bowling of Glennie and Barker. After these two were disposed of the remainder of tne side were easily got rid of, and the innings closed for 83. Barker and faude secured good bowling averages, the. former securing five for 33 and the latter three for 10. Glennie’ also bowled well, though he did not meet with much success. [Per Press Association .] " AUCKLAND, April 4. The final round of tho Auckland Cricket Association's district championships was concluded yesterday. The weather was fine but dull, and the wickets were generally soft. The resuits in the senior grade were as folio vrs;—Ponsonby v. Eden Colts: Ponsonby, Ist innings, 333; Eden Colts 171 (Hines 37, Williams not out 36, Gordon 20). Ponsonby won by 162 runs. North Shore v. Eden A: North Shove 142, Eden A 6 wickets for 230 (Mills not out S 6, Smith 73). University v. City: University 61 and 57; City 116 and for no wickets. City won by 10 wickets. Parnell r. Grafton: Parnell 131, Grafton 79. Fairburn for Parnell took 5 wickets for 40.
