The Independent Labor Conference resolved to levy a shilling a member towards the election fund. Mr. P. Snowden, Labor M.P. for Blackburn, stated that each candidate cost £4OO, and that £II,OOO was needed to contest constituencies already arranged to he contested, but at present partly witnout funds.

Do Josselin, late accountant of the Bank of New Zealand, has been sentenced to nine months’ hard labor for embezzlement.
