GISBORNE v. WAIKOHU
■ A. return match between 0, Gisborne eleven and theWailcoliu team was played at Waikolm. The town players proceeded to Waikohu by drag. Play commenced at 11 a.m. As the oommoy team had not a full side present when play started, the town captain agreed to allow the Waikohu men to bat first. The match was played on Mr. Ensor’s property, and this gentleman most hospitably entertained the town eleven at lunch and afternoon tea. Lunch was cooked by means of a kopa Maori, and proved a rare treat for the visitors. The match resulted in a win for the town team by an innings and 47 runs. The country team only succeeded in totalling 33 runs, to which the town team responded with 169, W- Gibson and J. Bowman putting on 75 runs for the first wicket. C. Lasker gave a fine display of hard hitting, and ran up a score of 51 in quick time before retiring. The following are the scores:
