THE BOROUGH ELECTIONS.
[To Tiie Editor.] Sir, —In this, morning’s issue a letter appeared under a non do plume in which tiie writer .says the thrice-crown-ed Mayor of Gore has been rejected several times in Gisborne. Now, Sir, L do not know Mr. Sim.son personally-, bijt know him by sight, so I-have made enquiries and find that Mr. Simson lias only once offered himself for election in Gisborne, and that was at the last licensing election I also find that Mr. Simson did good work when holding public positions in the South Island, and has the highest credentials from his townspeople. When men like Mr. Simson offer their services to the burgesses of Gis ‘borne, which services cost the people nothing, I think we are lucky in having men of experience in our midst who are willing to give their time for nothing, and when they do so all serious thinking people should' see that such services are accepted. It is men of that class we want-in pur Council, who can stand u»> for the rights of the people and see that the Borough is not run into the Insolvent C ourt with overborrowing and foolish, wild-cat schemes. —I am, etc., ••A MOTHER OF A EAMHA.”
