CYCLING.

ROAD RACE. Cycling seems to have taken a keen hold of Tc Karaka. Nominations for a handicap road race from Karaka to Ormond and back* close on Monday next, at 8 p.m., with Mr. Anderson, Gisborne, or Mr. P. J. Sefton, Karaka. The race to .all comers, and will be : run in two heats, the winner of each heat to receive a gold medal. The first three and the fastest rider in the first beat will qualify for the final, and will not start in the second heat. The first three to finish and the fastest rider in the second heat Avi 11 also compete in the final, which Avill be run on EmpireDDar,3 r , the prize being a valuable trophy. A fee of 2s must accompany each nomination, the money to he devoted to the purchase of a gold medal for the fastest rider in the final.
