TURANGANUI CLUB

At the Turanganui Club’s green yesterday the third round of the Handicap Singles was continued, when B. Hird met A. Zachariah. The result was:

B'. Hird (2) 24 beat A. Zachariah (5) 19.—Hird jumped away with the lead, and on the 7th head had a big advantage, being 11 to his opponent’s 2. From this-head to the 16th Hird only scored three singles, while Zachariah steadily overhauled him. On the 16th head Zachariah got in his four bowls, and obtained the lead —15 to 14. Hird, however, was not to be denied, for on the next bead be put up a 2, followed by a single.- a three, and a four. On the final head Zachariah. obtained a single, and the score read —Hird 24, Zachariah 16. The latter received three points, of a handicap, and was thus defeated by 5 jx>ints._ _ One more game in this round remains to be played, that between A. Sawyer and AY. McPherson.
