Lords Cromer and Curzon, and Lord James of Hereford delivered vigorous speeches at the Men’s League, opposing women’s suffrage. Lord Curzon declared that the bulk of the married women did not favor female suffrage, that the wives of workers were indifferent or hostile, and that it was imnossib.o to enfranchise propertied women and infuse a vote to wives.
