Mr Ben Kolvington, the Grand Master. addressing the conference, of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows at Bradford, dwelt on the- Government’s proposal for insurance against invalidity and sickness. He. protested against any attempt to establish a State-aided compulsory form of competition with the voluntary thrift movement. A letter from Mr Lloyd-Georg© was read, stating that whatever legislation was adopted care must he taken to safeguard the interests of the great Friendly Societies and to secure their active co-operation in the scheme.
