ENTERTAINMENTS.
BAPTIST CONCERT. Despite the inclemency of the weather, the Baptist Tabernacle was well filled last niglit, when an enjoyable concert was given in aid of the Baptist, choir. The Rev. AA r . Lamb presided, and a lengthy and varied programme was got through in a creditable manner. A well-rendered anthem from the choir was the first item, and this was followed by a solo by Atiss Glover, who had to respond to a recall. Mr. H. J. Brownlee came next with a solo, and also had to oblige with an encore. Other items were:Song, Air. Glanville; duct, Alessrs Lamb and AVilkinson ; violin solo, Air AVarnecke ; song, Air AVilkinson; song, Air. Heatlicote; violin solo, Air. Rhinesmith; song, Atiss Alary Dempsey ; quartette, Alessrs Lamb, Brownlee, Holland, and Heathcote; song, Aiiss Thompson,; cornet solo, Air. "Torrence. Mrs. H. J- Brownlee, who played all the accompaniments, was responsible in a large degree for the success of the evening. The concluding item on tlie programme,' sleight of hand and conjuring tricks, was contributed by Air. F. S. Ala’oolm, and a pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of the doxology.. IMPERIAL PICTURES.
At His Majesty’s Theatre on Wednesday next, the Imperial Picture Syndicate will give their first show of pictures in Gisborne, when they will present one of the greatest series of films yet seen in the Dominion, including “His Majesty Reviewing' tlio Navy," “A Dreadnought in Action”—-the mostreal istic picture'of the age, the enemy attacking this mighty ship. Sir Joscnh Ward, in offering a Dreadnought to the Home Government, on behalf of New Zealand, has made an everlasting impression on the whole world; and in placing these animated pictures ol “Our ”Navy” before the public, the management guarantee to give satisfaction to the most fastidious. In addition to the magnificent pictures or “Our Navy.” the management will present a "splendid popular programme, including a film showing Alexander Dumas’ "great work, “The Three Musketeers;” “Through 8 unity I< ranee. “Merrv Alicrobps,” “Winter Sport m Canada,” and “Scenes from the London Zoo.” ‘ ’
