THE POSITION IN CHRISTCHURCH.

CHRISTCHURCH, Juiy 2. The position regarding tbs untie- . played shows little change. From all appearances a greater proportion of workers have found something t o do, but the minority, which alters *ut little in the individuals composing if. -seem* to remain unabie io s '.ted. Amongst these last mentioned ire tup or three who have had experie-ice of work on the Midland railway, at Broken River and they express their determination not .to go back. Having had no experience of bush work, many of the workless have no chance of finding emplovment on bushfeliing contracts •in the’ North Island. Of the 26 men selected for work under the City Council only eight have applied for orders at the City Surveyor’s office entitling them to be taken on.
