Russell, M.P., chairman of the Canterbury College Board of Governors, forwarded the following cable to Mrs. Joseph Chamberlain on Wednesday: “Canterbury University College congratulates you upon successful Imperial services of your husband. —Russell.” The Canterbury branch of tho Navy League sent the following cable: “Canterbury branch New Zealand Navy League congratulations to great Em-pire-builder.” . The Christchurch Cit- Council has forwarded the following cable message to Mrs. Chamberlain, on the occasion of the meeting in the Royal Albert Hall, London, in honour of the Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain’s seventy-third birthday: “Christchurch, New Zealand, wishes many happy returns of tho day to Britain’s great colonial statesman.” At yesterday’s meeting of the Lyttelton Harbor Board, it was resolved to send .a cablegram to Mrs. Chamberlain, congratulating her upon tho attainment to-day by her husband of his seventy-third birthday. As the result of sixpenny subscription, a susrge-tion by tlie “Dunedin Star,’’ the following cable, signed bv the Mayor and president of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, has been sent to the chairman cf the Chamberlain meeting, Albert Hall, London: “Citizens of Dunedin congratulate Mr. Chamberlain on his achievements in the interests of the Empire, and extend good wishes and highest appreciation of the services of himself and his devoted wife that have signally and conspicuously bettered life conditions.” _ The chairman of the Dunedin Stock Exchange forwarded greetings on behalf of the Exchanges of the Dominion.
