POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB. The Poverty Bay Rowing Chib will hold their annual social in Whinray’s Hall this evening. During an interval, Ir. J. R. Kirk will present the following prizes won during the rowing season just closed:—First trial fours, for Mr. B. S. Cox’s photos: J. W. Nicolas (str), C. Winter (3), J. Malone (2), G. Smith (bow), and J. Fox (cox). Double sculling contest, for Mr. C. Morse’s walking-sticks: C. Somervell (str), W. Fitzgerald (bow), and V. hang (cox). Doublo-sculling contest, for Mr. "F. Harris’ gold medals: It. Jones (str), P. Fischbach (bow), and J. Fox (cox). Trial fours, for Mr. H. J. Peacock’s geld medals: M. McLeod (str), A. McConnell (3), iP. Fischbach (2), E. Roache. (bow), and V. Lang (cox). President’s fours, cup presented by Mr. E. P. Joyce (president): B. Lowe (str), J. Bragge (3), M. Scoats (2), L. O. Nicolas (bow), N. Nicolas (cox). Singlesctilling contest, for Mr. P. H. Graham’s gold medal: Won by J. W. Nicolas. Single-sculling contest, for Mr. AY. Fraser’s trophy, won by Charles Clark. SOUTHLAND ROAVING ASSOCIATION. (Pint Piucss Association.! INVERCARGILL, July 14. In view of the intention of tho Southland Rowing Association to apply for a championship meeting in February, a thorough inspection was made to-day of Bluff Harbor. The result has proved indubitably that an alternative two-mile course, wide enough to accommodate a field of fifteen boats, can be obtained in smooth water in any weather.
