PROPOSED CELEBRATIONS IN CANTERBURY. [Pan P mess Association.J CHRISTCHURCH, July 19. The celebration of Arbor Day here is to be left to the school children this year. The Education Board has been inundated with applications for trees from town and country schools, and school committees, about fifty of. these bodies having notified that pupils .desired to do some amateur afforestation. In the majority of cases the school grounds will be the scene of operations, but in some cases public domains will be planted with ornamental trees. Municipally nothing is to be done in Christchurch to distinguish Arbor Day from any other day.
