The Tramway Board having made Cathedral Square the central terminus for all trams, and having laid down a network of lines, in the Square, the traffic has become very great indeed. Most of the cab-stands in the city are in the Square, also the carriers’ stands. The Square is a great business centre of the citv. and as there are about 3000 bicycles in the city and about 400 motor cars of different kinds, it- becomes quite dangerous for pedestrians to essay the nassage. The City Council decided to disallow cabs and carriers stands in the Square and fixed up other sites. The carriers are very wroth. They held a. meeting on Saturday night and protested against the removal. They decided to take legal advice as to tlieir rights to-the Square, and to take action if the advice warrants it. At the meeting it was stated that Messrs. T. E. Taylor bind G. AA r . Russell, M.’sP., sympathised with the cabmen an 1 would help in the matter.
