FOOTBALL.
WAIAPU SUB-UNION. MANGATUNA Y. TOKOAIARU. The above match was played on the Tokomaru ground on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for Tokoraaru by 21 points to 3. The game was very one-sided and rather uninteresting from a spectators’ point of view. Seven tries were scored by Tokomaru— Newton (3) Matahiki, Reed, J. Oates, and Ryland one each—none of which were converted, mainly owing to the ball being greasy, and the shots from difficult angles. The. local backs showed but poor combination, one or two of them playing very selfishly, and if a win is to be recorded against Tologa Bay next Saturday the ivhole team, both forwards and backs, will have to improve considerably. Mangatuna were very weak (playing seven juniors). Mr. E. Potae controlled the game and gave every satisfaction.
