GOLF.
MONTHLY MEDAL COMPETITION. The monthly medal competition, stroke play, attracted a large number of entries at the Poverty Bay Golf Club’s links on Saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect, but most of the players failed to play up to their best form, and the rounds done were not so good as usual. L. T. Brown, who has been showing steadily improving form lately, won the medal, his card reading 104 —20—84. W. F. J. Anderson was a close second, with 100 —15—85. Of the scratch men, G. M. Dodgshun and Geoff. Willoek did good rounds of 86 each.' There were a large number of lady players on the links, the majority of whom displayed much improved form. On Friday afternoon, Miss Tucker and A. H. Wallis (15) met Miss Bull and P. Keiha (2). After an interesting match, the former pair won by 3 up. On Saturday afternoon, Miss Nolan and F. T. Morgan (9) played off their game with Mrs. Morgan and W. R. Barker (3). The game provided a capital tussle throughout, and the issue was in doubt right up to the last putt, Miss Nolair and Morgan taking the game by a stroke at the home green.
