IP Kit Punas Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, August 11. j At the banco sitting of the Supremo Court this morning, before Mr. Justice Denniston, Mr. Stringer, K.C., acting for the Crown, moved, under section 432 of the Crimes Act, 1908, for the committment for contempt of Court of Thomas McKinnon, manager of the weekly newspaper ‘‘Truth,” in respect to the publication by that journal of details of a certain case in the Magistrate’s Court on January 30 last, the Magistrate ‘■having .jn.ado an order prohibiting publication. The offence, was admitted. Hrs Honor, in giving judgment, said that the facts disclosed deliberate and impudent contempt of the Court which heard the easel The defendant would be fined £IOO, and costs. His Honor added that had the writer of the article, been before the Court he would have imposed a sentence of imprisonment.
